The Morgan State Bears had some positives going for them. Stringing them together was a problem as the Bears were swept ay the American Eagles 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-20) at Hill Field House on September 29.
Leading the American (14-2) attack was Angelina Waterman who had 11 kills and three solo blocks on the night.
Eagles head coach Barry Goldberg said about Waterman, "I thought we put her in a couple of different positions. One time, we played her on the left side, the other two times on the right side. We're trying to experiment a little bit with her, seeing what her capabilities (are). Angelina is a good blocker, passer and can hit off of one foot. we're trying to incorporate that part where she can hit off one foot. It's like a basketball lay-up where she comes off to the side and hits it. She did pretty well."
Freshman setter/right side Ngebui Chafeh led the Morgan State attack with eight kills and was a factor in the third game of the match. Chafeh threw the Eagles off with her deep dumps into the corners. That helped the Bears storm off to a 7-3 advantage.
Morgan State (2-13) made some crucial errors after that and American made them pay.
