The three-time defending CAA Champion Towson Tigers sent a powerful message in outlasting Big Ten opponent Rutgers 3-2 (25-18, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-11) in front of the largest crowd to ever see a Towson volleyball match.
Here is head coach Don Metil talking about what went on in front of this rocking crowd of 1,012 and more:
Sophomore outside hitter Victoria Barrett did heavy damage in recording a double-double of 15 kills and 15 digs for the Tigers (6-0). Barrett spoke to me about what went on and more after the match:
After the timeout in set five and Rutgers (4-2) was up 11-9, the Tigers scored the last six points of the match punctuated with Barrett and Aayinde Smith blocking the Scarlet Knights' Taylor Humphrey to finish it off. That was one of 15.5 team blocks the Tigers recorded on the night.
