Coppin Volleyball holds off North Carolina Central

by Keith Henry

It looked easy after the first two sets against a dangerous North Carolina Central squad. But the Coppin State Lady Eagles held off a vicious rally to turn away the Eagles 3-2 (25-12, 25-16, 24-26, 22-25, 15-5) at the PEC on Sunday afternoon.

Coppin State head coach Tim Walsh diagnosed what went on in sets three & four saying "In the third set, I just think we never got on a roll. We were point for point for point and we couldn't put points together for some reason. So we lost a tight one. In the 4th set, we couldn't pass. So they just ran over us on that. But the consistency is going to be an issue for us. We got to make sure to figure that out before we play more opponents."

"We came out hard and played well. We played smart. We got to be confident enough to get it done and stay consistent throughout the set."

"She has done a great job since she was a freshman. Ashley has room to grow and she's going to get better. That's exciting. She is a huge asset to our defense and the girls see her giving 100% and they follow suit. she has done well for us. We're happy that she chose us to be a part of her family and her career."
