The Coppin State Lady Eagles continued to put themselves in tough situations via their free throw shooting issues. In addition, Hampton freshman Nicole Hamilton stepped up for the defending MEAC champions in their 76-56 decimation of Coppin State at the PEC.
For Coppin State, that was their seventh consecutive loss. The real concern for the Lady Eagles has to be their free throw shooting. CSU (2-9, 0-2 MEAC) was 9-for-19 (47%) from the charity stripe while Hampton (8-5, 2-0 MEAC) shot 70.8% (17-24) from there.
CSU head coach Derek Brown said, "We missed free throws at opportune times. That's a problem we have. We don't make big buckets when we need to make big buckets. It's some crucial parts of the game where we needed to make a couple of foul shots and we missed both foul shots. Things of that nature is going against us right now. A lot of that is attributed to our inexperience. Hopefully, we'll get better at it."
