BALTIMORE- The roll that Howard is on is unfathomable. The Bison has won every MEAC series so far this season.
The clutch hits and big plays went the Bison way this past Sunday as they swept Coppin State 6-4 & 6-3 in their MEAC doubleheader at the Coppin State Softball Complex. They also swept the series yesterday as Ameenah Ballenger no-hit the Lady Eagles 9-0 in five innings.
Howard (20-17, 14-1 MEAC) remains in first place in the MEAC looking to secure the #1 seed & a bye in the MEAC Softball Championships.
The Bison control their own fate and can secure the top seed with a series win vs. defending MEAC champion Morgan State this upcoming weekend in D.C.
As for Coppin State (3-22, 3-12 MEAC), they're in the Danger Zone.
The Lady Eagles are three games behind South Carolina State for the #6 and final playoff spot.
Coppin must win their series at second place Norfolk State and get some help to stay alive in the playoff race.
If not, Coppin would be eliminated and their final MEAC series with crosstown rival & defending MEAC champion Morgan State would just be a battle for pride only.
